What about MY typing habit in Armenian? If you are already using an Armenian font, and you are discouraged to change because of the difference in keyboard layout (i.e. the place you press for each letter), there too YOU HAVE A SOLUTION. I have developed over the KDWIN program a number of keyboard adaptations for each of the type distribution that different fonts have. I have classified them in 4 groups and adapted all of them to the old Olympia typewriter’s layout, reproduced in the fonts made by LF&C (given my large experience in Armenian typesetting, I think it’s the less confusing and logical distribution, even if not the completely phonetic one). This is the best distribution I have found. Nevertheless, KDWIN gives you the possibility to change it and adapt it to your needs. Note that doing so will not affect what other people read of the text you type, but only the way you type different fonts. REMEMBER: You have to use ArmSCII compliant fonts to achieve this, i.e., those of Group 1 where, in addition, there is a great variety of typefaces. If there is no ArmSCII version of the Armenian typeface you like, then mail the authors asking them to make one. SO YOU WILL HAVE THE SAME TYPEFACE YOU LIKE, PLUS LATIN ALPHABET ON THE SAME FONT, PLUS NUMBERS AND UPPERCASE IN NORMAL PLACES WITHOUT HAVING TO STRIKE STRANGE KEY COMBINATIONS. |
